Mechanical Product Engineer

Description

If you like to create and build custom cabinets and translate that into 3-D engineering drawings, then this might be the right match for you. The Product Engineer communicates with our award winning Design team to maintain the design intent of the customer while ensuring a high level of Design-For-Manufacturability for production. This requires high value collaboration with Project Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Vendors and Customers, to develop specialized custom kiosks and store fixtures. Our customers include Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Kodak, Costco and Alaska Airlines.

Qualifications

  • Wood working experience and abilities.
  • Create 3-D drawings using “SolidWorks” software, in a short lead time, to meet fit, form, function, design, quality, cost, ease of manufacturing and assembly.
  • Broad knowledge of materials applications (metal, plastics, wood, etc.).
  • Establish and enter the Bill of Materials in the ERP system (M2M).
  • Clearly communicate product requirements (including M2M and drawing documentation) and customer expectations to other departments.
  • Interact with manufacturing to ensure efficient production and successful end results.
  • Take the product from inception to Product Handshake and continue with changes throughout the life of the product.
  • This position interacts with all facets of the business.

Desired Qualifications

  • SolidWorks, Autocad.
  • Read and interpret blue prints and construction documents.
  • Estimating.
  • Store take-off's from architectural drawings.
  • Bill of Materials / MRP systems.
  • Mfg process flow - design, engineering, BOM's, purchasing, planning, machining, building, shipping, installing.
  • Technical writing of assembly/construction instructions.
  • Bachelor degree or 3+ years related experience.
  • Hands-on work in a manufacturing environment, experience with wood products a plus.
CROSS-TRAINING ORIENTATION: Candidate will spend the 1st several weeks training and building product.
