Quality Manager and Lean Champion
Description
A Lean Champion and change agent capable of leading quality initiatives to higher levels of performance. Incorporate Lean strategies to support and manage the overall organization’s quality and related cost reduction goals. Responsibilities include establishing standards to analyze the cost of quality, and create processes for verifying metrics and results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead Quality and Champion Lean initiatives with “hands-on” approach for deliverable results.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills through championing accountability, maximizing team and individual strengths, seeking and implementing change, and aligning with critical production and business objectives.
- Prioritize and facilitate Kaizen and 5s activities.
- Lead and implement full range of in-depth Lean methods.
- Recognize and implement improved and innovative processes to accomplish objectives.
- Effectively problem solve in a fast paced environment with challenging and often “impossible” situations.
- Establish teams and manage multiple projects and initiatives with budget limits and time constraints.
- Develop and maintain a Certified Operator Program.
- Document and report the performance and address non-conformities.
- Manage internal and external audits.
- Follow-up on and close pending Preventive and Corrective Action Requests.
- Ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for organization.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications.
- Determine standards to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
- Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Apply total quality management tools and a variety of measurement approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
- Maintain high ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct.
- Interact with vendors/customers to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
- Demonstrate organization and motivational abilities.
Qualifications
Quality management and industry experience 5+ years; successful quality improvement initiatives and results; inspiring leadership and motivation skills; excellent independent problem solving and decision making skills; able to accept responsibility for own decisions; excellent reading, writing, counting, proofing; understand and follow directions; ability to work under pressure; organizational skills; excellent attention to detail; excellent accuracy; problem solving skills; flexibility; initiative; ability to communicate professionally and effectively (oral and written); ability to work independently and with a team effectively; ability to coordinate multiple projects.
SKILLS IN LEAN:5+ years "hands-on" experience in lean manufacturing process with a proven track record of delivering results; thorough understanding and application of lean principles including Kaizen, 5s, and Kanban; team player; must be able to establish teams and manage projects; excellent skills in dealing with fast pace, challenging and often "impossible" situations; must like solving problems and getting the job done; must maintain high ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct; six Sigma Black Belt a big plus; good understanding of a variety of measurement techniques and good analytical skills; hands-on, in-depth knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methodologies; capable of leading and implementing the practical application of the full range of lean methods on the plant floor; must have implemented lean practices in several different plants or operating environments; strong leadership skills demonstrated through championing accountability, maximizing team and individual strengths, seeking and implementing change, and aligning with critical plant and business objectives; talent for recognizing better and innovative ways to accomplish objectives; ability to effectively manage multiple projects/initiatives with budget limits and time constraints.

- Bachelor degree.
